Some years back we had the pleasure of meeting Michael and Arleen Stark. They explained how Matthew (their son who tragically passed away at a young age) was courageous to the end and that they wished to capture this essence in his memorial award and present it to a player who never gives up under adversity. The Matthew Stark Memorial Award is presented to a Belnorth player who has competed at any level under difficult circumstances such as with a disability, or after sickness or injury. 2009 - Ross GreenWhen it comes to this year’s recipient it is fair to say this young person has had his fair share of trials and tribulations over the past couple of years. Many of you would recall the fund raising activities the club undertook when one of our players was diagnosed with Leukemia and was undergoing treatment in Sydney. We are happy to say that this player in now back playing football with us and it is a pleasure to watch him run around the park each week. 2008 - Lachlan NorrisWhen it comes to this year’s recipient it is fair to say that when you saw Lachlan Norris play with the U9 Cheetahs you would not notice that this young man suffers from a significant hearing impairment. He is a fantastic little player who plays as an integral part if his team. He scored goals and showed a great awareness of what was going on around him on the field. Top job Lachlan, we feel that you have truly captured Matthew’s attitude in the way you approach the game. 2007 - Paul CartonPaul has a severe medical condition that impacts on his day-to-day life. In spite of his difficulties he has played a key attacking role in the under 10 Chieftains team, even scoring a goal in three successive weeks. 2006 - Ben QuiglyBen is a member of the under 8 Crows team. In spite of having ‘mild’ cerebral palsy, Ben has only missed one game all season. He has contributed to the overall team effort and is a popular team player. Previous Winners
