Pee Wee BombersThe Pee Wee Bombers are having a great season so far and enjoying learning about the game and getting to know each other. Already the players are showing preferences for different roles in the team. Jacinta and Brayden are fast and focused on the goals. Will, Nicholas and Aden are in everything and Lucas provides a last line of defence. On Saturday the Bombers played one of their best games against the Raiders, having a win in an evenly matched encounter. Keep up the good work Bombers! U10 White DevilsThis week the U10 White Devils played their best game yet. They played well all over the park, in attack, midfield and defence. We played in beautiful sunshine at the Hawker Playing Fields against the Belsouth Thunder and we came away with another win, 2 goals to nil. Jonathan and Seamus each scored, plus they had many spectacular and accurate shots at the goals which the opposition's great goalie managed to save. The key to our success this week was that the players held their positions and passed effectively, giving our strikers many opportunities to score. Griffith, Lachlan and James W were again very strong in defence, clearing the ball very effectively. Jayson, Jarrod, James B, Austin and Christopher ran hard in the midfield, winning the ball from the opposition and providing excellent passes up the field. Christopher was goalie for the first half of the game and Griffith was for the second half. Enjoy the break and see you after the school holidays! U10 White UnitedAnd yes, it was another historical occasion. In the first half the Belsouth Stormers put in a great effort and had a number of good shots at our goal, but luck and valiant goal keeping by Harrison kept a clean slate. After a change of goalies Harrison took a long ball through their defense and scored his first goal for the day and good defending by Ben, Caleb, Adam and Mitchell gave us a one - nil lead at half time. The second half saw a renewed offensive by Belsouth but hard work by our mid fielders Patrick, Aiden and Tom Husking kept them from doing real damage. Our forwards Tom Gore and James produced some good passing. An awkward goalie clearance provided Belsouth with an opportunity to score and they did not miss this time. Now the game seemed to get into top gear with Jordan and Harrison producing good combinations resulting in another goal by Harrison. For a while we were under great pressure but Mitchell in goal proved equal to the task. Belsouth became a bit too eager to equalize and brought all their players forward, leaving a gap that gave Harrison an opportunity to drive the ball through from halfway and after a good dribble to score his first hat trick. Sturdy work in midfield, particularly by Jordan kept the opponents under control and the game finished at 3 - 1 in our favour. Well done guys. |
